Air Force Command Headquarters Issues Press Release Statement Clarifying the “Air Force Aerial Night Rescue Meets with Laser Pointer Interference” Incident (October 23rd, 2016)

Regarding the media report of the “Air Force Aerial Night Rescue Meets with Laser Pointer Interference”, the Air Force Command Headquarters expressed today (23rd) that, during the rescue mission conducted by the rescue team before dawn, the team had met with laser pointer interference by a member of public. The act is in serious violation of aerial safety and poses a significant hazard to the execution of rescue missions.

The Air Force Command Headquarters further stressed that, the Rescue Team is on 24 Hour Standby throughout the year to conduct rescue missions, and they have upheld the humanitarian spirit of “Experiencing the Suffering of Others as Their Own” to demonstrate the passion of the military in caring and assisting the people. They also urge that the public to support the efforts of the rescue team in mission execution and to refrain from using laser pointers on aircraft to avoid any flight safety accidents.
